"Gauze Grid"
These pieces are from an earlier series and meant to be free hanging. They reference tapestries in this respect. The format consists of a central diagonal grid contained by a decorative border. Each grid is made by adhering layers of gauze bandages to the surface with Rhoplex. The grids provides a perceptual flux and alternate between a kind of lattice work that you look through and stripes on a field. The closest critical reference in these works would be the "Pattern and Decoration" movement .
The scale of the paintings lend themselves to exhibition in a Corporate or Public space.
